Over at Sports Untapped, they take Tito to task and link to our article. As a bonus, they get in a good ‘Bullwinkle’ reference:
Wow. Talk about harsh. Tito waited until after UFC 109 to get his ‘revenge’ with his heckling and bird lobbing, a plot worthy of Boris and Natasha’s ongoing battle of wills against ‘Moose and Squirrel’. The mainstream sports media has picked up on the story, giving them the opportunity to make fun of not only the Coleman/Couture ‘old timers’ main event but Ortiz’s histrionics. Coming on the heels of NY Jets’ coach Rex Ryan getting in a few extended middle fingers of his own at a Strikeforce show, Tito makes for a pretty easy target.
I’d like to think this wasn’t a planned ‘angle’ but with the UFC you can never tell. Certainly, no one wants to see a Ortiz/Coleman fight and thankfully Dana White insisted at the press conference afterwards that Coleman was retired. Longtime foil Chuck Liddell has called out Tito–the two are opposing coaches on the upcoming season of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ and all of this could be a pitiful effort to generate ‘heat’ and increase ratings. It also runs the risk of resulting in another Ortiz/Liddell fight which no one wants to see either.
Funny article and a good website with a lot of coverage of handicapping and sports betting:
Killer video of the monstrous Megadeth playing the first two songs off of their ‘Endgame’ album live. Here’s ‘Dialectic Chaos’ and ‘This Day We Fight’:
Brock Lesnar is almost completely recovered from his career threatening intestinal condition and could possibly return to action as early as May:
Brock Lesnar’s recovery from a serious intestinal condition is proceeding better than expected. So much better than expected that the UFC heavyweight champion is talking about a possible May return to action. This is no doubt a great relief to the UFC, which has struggled to fill the PPV/box office void left by his lengthy absence. It’s also good news for MMA fans because like him or not, the sport is a whole lot more interesting with Lesnar than without him.
Even the announcement of Lesnar’s return to action has increased mainstream media coverage of the UFC, with ESPN Sports Center covering this story on Wednesday morning. Lesnar is planning to resume fight training immediately, and the working plan is a matchup against the Frank Mir/Shane Carwin winner. Mir/Carwin is slated to take place on March 27, so the winner would have to come out of the fight without sustaining any serious injury to make a May fight against Lesnar. Mir and Carwin were originally supposed to be fighting for the ‘Interim’ heavyweight title but it may end up just being for the #1 contender status with Lesnar’s return now imminent. If a match with the Carwin/Mir winner doesn’t work out logistically, Lesnar will likely fight the winner of the Cain Velasquez vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira bout.
As the writer states, like him or not the sport is a hell of a lot more interesting with Lesnar than without him. And more important than his return to MMA action, its good to hear that he won’t suffer any longterm health problems.
