We reported on the debut of the World MMA Awards recently. The awards are a partnership between the UK newspaper “The Sun” and the UK MMA magazine “Fighters Only”. Nominations are now underway, and we’ll give you the link to nominate your choices at the end of this post. The deal is they’ll come up with a list of nominees, which you’ll then get to vote on.

But not so fast there, pal…one of the categories is for ‘Best Media Coverage’. Nothing would please me more if THE SAVAGE SCIENCE got nominated. We’ll worry about winning once that’s achieved. I can tell you this much, we were the only English language MMA website up at 5:00 AM Tuesday morning giving you DREAM round by round on a pirated feed from Japan. So I’m going to link directly to this award–here’s the criteria:

MMA is everywhere you look nowadays but when you want your fix of news, interviews and features – basically everything that happens outside of the fighting – where do you get it from and who gives you it the best?

This Award is open to websites, TV shows, magazines and newspapers and should reflect accuracy, timeliness and insight.

Nominations to be based on reporting from 1st August 2007 through to 31st July 2008.

Websites either dedicate to MMA or with their own dedicated MMA section are eligible for this award.
