The Japanese media is reporting that a Bob Sapp v. Mike Tyson fight may be forthcoming. And there was much rejoicing. Uh…not really. The only way they could make this worse was to involve Butterbean somehow. Amazingly, some people actually care…

A long-awaited K-1 fight featuring former undisputed heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson and K-1’s biggest superstar Bob Sapp might be a step closer to reality. The K-1 fight world is buzzing over the possible super fight after “Iron Mike� inked a deal to fight in July under a K-1 subsidiary.

Tyson, who has amassed a record of 50 wins and four losses, including 44 KOs, has signed a contract to fight in a match promoted by Fight Entertain-ment Group (FEG), a subsidiary company of K-1, the world’s premier martial arts fighting sport.

FEG officials said Tyson’s opponent for the July bout, as well as an exact date for the fight, will be announced shortly.

Speculation is rife in Tokyo his opponent might be the charismatic Sapp.

“That’s the fight all the people want to see,� Sapp said as he was preparing to head to the U.S. for another K-1 match.
