Despite the news that EliteXC has pulled Nick Diaz from the May 11th DREAM.3 show, the official DREAM website still has him listed on the fight card. There’s also no mention of Diaz’s withdrawal in the Japanese sports media. Since its just after 2 PM Tokyo time as I’m writing this I doubt they’ll have any update on his status until tomorrow.

The SI.com article that we linked to when we first reported this had an unintentionally funny line:

Representatives for Fight Entertainment Group, which expected to promote Diaz’s welterweight bout this weekend versus Katsuya Inoue, did not respond to requests for comment.

Corporations tend to not respond when you contact them just before midnight, which it was in Tokyo when this story was being posted. You think a big magazine like Sports Illustrated would understand the concept of time zones. I can give American journalists a pass for not understanding the Japanese language or culture. I can’t let them off the hook when they don’t realize that when its morning here its night there.
