The Japanese sports media is reporting several different stories regarding the extent and nature of Shinya Aoki’s injuries that have forced the postponement of his 2nd round DREAM lightweight GP bout until June 15th. One thing that is certain is that he had some cartilage damage to his nose that is hampering his breathing. Additionally, he suffered a concussion to his cervical vertebrae and damage to his ribs. Some reports are suggesting that his ribs are severely bruised, while others are suggesting at least one cracked rib. In any case, he’s a mess and the postponement of the fight will hopefully give him time to fully heal.
