Our sources in Japan have informed us that Nick Diaz–off a very impressive performance at DREAM.3–will fight Hayato Sakurai for the newly created DREAM welterweight title. The enigmatic Diaz looked extremely sharp as he used his refined boxing skills to dominate Katsuya Inoue. He’s one of the most exciting and talented fighters in the sport and hopefully he’s put his out of the ring troubles behind him.

Reports are that while he’s tentatively scheduled to fight Inoue on DREAM.5 to be held 7/21 in Osaka that the bout may be pushed back to DREAM.6 on 9/23 at Tokyo’s Saitama Super Arena. Diaz is currently scheduled to fight Muhsin Corbbrey on a June 14th EliteXC card in Hawaii. Diaz is the type of fighter that would likely be game for two high profile bouts so close together, but the promotions involved may feel it prudent to give him more preparation time.
