SENGOKU 2: Kwang Hee Lee vs. Eiji Mitsuoka

By Jim Murphy May 18th, 2008

Kwang Hee Lee enters the ring first..playing some strange disco song. No Lene Hardt giving the English announcement but WVR does have some Japanes dude giving English announcements and doing a good job at it. My man has a BOOMING voice. Obviously Lene Hardt’s pumps aren’t easy to fill but this guy is doing a real good job. I’ll try and track down his name b/c he deserves props. Lee has his hair dyed some sort of auburn color. I’m no geneticist but I’ve never seen a Korean with hair that color naturally. Ref giving the last minute instructions and we’re ready to fight:

ROUND 1:

Three 5 minute rounds here a la UFC. I’ll have to get the skinny on the judging–I *think* WVR does the full fight judging think like PRIDE did and DREAM currently does. Fighters standing looking to strike but basically just circling each other tentatively at this point. Lee with a middle kick that is partially blocked as the first strike of the fight. Lee with another partially blocked kick and he’s getting *wicked* velocity on the and you can hear an audible crack almost like a whip as they hit. Mitsuoka shoots in and tries for a takedown. My guess is that he’s had enough of those whiplike kicks and I can’t really blame him. Mitsuoka shoots again and gets the takedown this time and is close to establishing side control. Looks like he’s trying for some sort of leglock but Lee is defending well. Side control now by Mitsuoka, looked for an anaconda choke but is now content to rain down strikes. He has his opponent’s back now and is wailing him in the back of the noggin a la Matt Hughes vs. Royce Gracie. Lee tries to defend his head which gives Mistuoka the opportunity to lock in a nasty rear naked choke which Lee is forced to tap to.

WINNER BY SUBMISSION IS EIJI MITSUOKA (REAR NAKED CHOKE)

Mitsuoka addressing the crowd now and the fighters he’s giving shout outs to are laughing so he must be saying something funny. After he quit screwing around with the standup game it was a dominant performance by Mitsuoka.
