Here’s today’s installment of crazy talk about MMA from a mainstream celebrity. Chuck Zito–admitedly on a short list of tough dudes you don’t want to mess with–has been suggesting whenever he’s interviewed that he’s training for MMA and ‘weighing several offers’. He’ll keep waiting and weighing as his asking price is *5 million bucks* per fight. Here’s what Dave Meltzer @ The Wrestling Observer had to say about the whole thing:

Funny Chuck Zito MMA news. He was on Stem earlier in the week saying he wants to fight but nobody is offering him enough money. He wants $5 million for a fight. He said he’s been offered $2 per PPV buy and said he thinks he deserves a lot more than that. He noted that Kimbo Slice only sold 8,000 tickets in Newark and if he thought, the place would be sold out. He said he’s in the best shape of his life and laughed at the idea Tito Ortiz could beat him in seconds. And to show there is no limits to his being delusional, he said he thought Ortiz won the fight with Lyoto Machida. Artie Lang said he was a boxing fan and can’t get into MMA because they go to the ground too much. Zito said it’s better because now they have rounds and they stand the guys up if they’re on the ground too long.

To put this into perspective, many in the MMA community think Affliction is nuts for paying what they’re paying for their debut card. The *total* payroll for that event is probably somewhere in the $7 to 8 million range. From what we hear, Fedor Emelianenko is getting $1.5 million. So Chuck Zito thinks he’s worth over three times what arguably the best MMA fighter in the world is worth?

Not sure what is less grounded in reality–his asking price of $5 mil per fight or his belief that Tito Ortiz *won* his fight against Lyoto Machida.
