More on David Haye’s MMA plans
By Malakai Faafia July 3rd, 2008Cruiserweight turned heavyweight David Haye speaks to the UK Sun about his MMA plans. He’s hoping to become a MMA fighter after his boxing career is over. Specifically, he said that he wasn’t going to ‘just show up for a paycheck’ as he suggests that Ray Mercer did against Kimbo Slice:
“I would take the same attitude I have for boxing into the Octagon. If I were going to do it, I’d want to do it properly and win everything in sight.
“Money wouldn’t even be an issue — that’s the last thing I’d do it for. It would be all about the challenge.
“I wouldn’t go in there blind and make a fool of myself like some other boxers do. I’d only do it if I was confident of becoming the best in the world.”
Haye has been talking about his MMA plans for awhile now and he sounds serious. He’s got some kickboxing background and if he can get a ground game he could be a handful.
