By Jim Murphy July 4th, 2008Short blurb in today’s Boston Herald about the UFC’s future plans for running a show in Beantown:
While UFC president Dana White has his sights set on expanding the organization to all corners of the globe, he is still determined to make a stop in Boston.
White, who lived in Boston in the 1990s, has been talking about bringing the UFC to the Hub for years. The major hurdle is that mixed martial arts in Massachusetts is not regulated by the UFC’s rules. White has faced similar roadblocks in other states and has managed to get UFC events sanctioned.
“We’re real confident that we’re going to have this thing done, White said, hoping TD Banknorth Garden will host an event by early 2009. “I wanted to be in by the end of the year, but it’s looking like it will be after this year. It’s coming to pass, no doubt about it.
