DREAM.5: Motoki Miyazawa vs. Kuniyoshi Hironaka
By Jim Murphy July 21st, 2008Motoki entering the ring to what sounds like Japanese opera music. Back to the previous fight, “Kid” Yamamoto injured his knee in training forcing him to pull out. Hironaka holds a win over tough Nick Diaz which is no joke.
ROUND ONE:
Fighters exchange a couple of strikes, then tie up in the corner. Miyazawa wants to close the distance as Hironaka a first rate striker. Slow methodical fight ends up on the ground with Miyazawa trying for a gogoplata but nothing doing. Fight not bad so far, but a tedious pace compared to the very entertaining card thus far. Low kick by Miyazawa. Fighters exchanging strikes, but neither able to gain the advantage. Methodical pace so far, Miyazawa scoring effectively with kicks and that’s probably giving him the edge in the fight thus far. Hironaka’s punching is better, and has opened a cut on Miyazawa’s face. Hironaka letting his hands go and scoring effectively. This opens up the cut over his brow even more and the action is stopped for the ringside doctor to examine it. That’s it–they’re calling the fight due to the cut which is nasty. It looks like Miyazawa bladed his eyelid. Yuck.
