Ric Flair/Ricky Steamboat steel cage promo

Here at SAVSCI there are two types of wrestling promos we can’t get enough of: 1) masked wrestlers in street clothes, or even better in suits or 2) steel cage promos with the wrestlers in the studio behind a piece of the cage. Here’s a Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling promo for a match between Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat contested in a steel cage. Back in this era, promotions didn’t rely on slick videos, scripted promos or silicone enhanced “divas” to put butts in the seats. During the 1970’s, Flair, Steamboat and the other Mid Atlantic wrestlers put 8,000 to 10,000 people in the Greensboro Coliseum every week with promos like this:
