CSAC to announce positive EliteXC/Affliction drug tests

By Jim Murphy August 21st, 2008

MMA Frenzy is reporting that the California State Athletic Commission will announce that one fighter each at the Stockton EliteXC card and the Affliction: Banned event tested positive for a banned subject. Not sure why the CSAC just didn’t announce who it was, but they’ve exhibited some curious behavior in the past and given the impression that they think they’re bigger than the sport they’re supposed to regulate. The CSAC is required to notify the athletes first, which makes sense. They still have a tendency toward grandstanding behavior though….

Anyway, you people can speculate on who it is–most of the fighters from each card have been “cleared” by the CSAC leaving the following group:

ELITE XC:

Jake Shields
Nick Thompson
Antonio Silva
Justin Eilers

AFFLICTION:

Fedor Emelianenko
Tim Sylvia
Antonio Nogueira
Edwin Dewees

We’re not going to speculate on who it might be here at SAVSCI, but obviously should Fedor test positive it would rock the sport. The educated guess here at SAVSCI is that he’s the least likely candidate.

Positive Affliction, EliteXC drug tests to be announced later today by the CSAC @ MMA Frenzy

I’ll do you’re speculating for you. Affliction it will be: Dewees, because Fedor won’t fail, Brazilians never fail tests for steroids, and Sylvia isn’t dumb enough to fail twice….. right?

EliteXC is more up in the air. I have no idea who it will be. I’ll take the big underdog and go with Big Foot.
