One of the things we really respect about Gina Carano is how smart she’s been about leveraging her MMA fame into other lucrative gigs. Her latest is an appearance as a video game actress in the forthcoming Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 game from EA. For those of you who haven’t paid attention since the late (and crazy) Dana Plato paraded around a sorority full of scantily dressed skanks in Night Trap, appearing in a video game isn’t the last rung on the entertainment latter before soft core porn (Dana Plato’s career path notwithstanding): video games are an insanely huge business these days. In 2007, the video game industry pocketed a cool $18.5 billion in sales. For those of you scoring at home, that makes it a bigger business than movies and recorded music. *Combined*.

In other words, becoming a character in a popular video game franchise is a crafty career move for Ms. Carano. She looks pretty hot as a Cold War era Soviet. Maybe EliteXC should consider having Gina “turn heel” and do a Nikolai Volkoff type gimmick.

Anyway, the game’s tentative release date for the XBox360 and PC is 10/28/08.
