Killer Kowalski passes away

By Jim Murphy August 31st, 2008

Sad news that legendary WWE heel Walter “Killer” Kowalski passed away earlier today. Kowalski suffered a massive heart attack on 8/8/08 and never regained consciousness. The WWE sent out the following comment:

World Wrestling Entertainment is saddened by the passing of WWE Hall of Famer Walter “Killer” Kowalski. Kowalski, who was an in-demand performer in the 1950’s and ’60’s, was a former WWWF (World Wide Wrestling Federation) Tag Team Champion in the late-1970’s. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1996. He was instrumental in the training of many WWE Superstars, including current WWE Champion Triple H. WWE extends its condolences to the Kowalski family.

The Canadian sports website Slam! Sports has a lengthy Kowalski obit. Kowalski was a native of Windsor, ONT.

There’s also a really nice tribute to him from his adopted home in the suburbs of Boston:
