One thing we absolutely hate about some of the online MMA media is what Dana White/UFC nuthuggers they are. Here’s a great example, over at SI.com where Patrick Cote gets no respect in an article previewing his fight against Anderson Silva. The article is titled “Cote just the latest victim to be thrown in cage with champ Silva”.

But the fact that he’s even challenging for the title is more of a testament to Silva’s reign of terror over the division than it is to Cote’s rise through the ranks. He is the No. 1 contender only by process of elimination. To get this title shot, he won a lackluster split-decision over Ricardo Almeida (who wasn’t exactly at the top of the 185-pound food chain himself) at UFC 86.

So now Cote gets a chance to etch his name into the record books. Sure, why not? There’s no more obvious choice, and you don’t exactly hear many middleweights clamoring for their chance to have Silva relocate their facial features. That’s the trouble with Silva, as much as there is one. He’s nothing less than an artist when he’s in action, but he’s also a monster that demands to be fed regularly. And the UFC is running out of warm bodies to throw in the cage with him.

There’s plenty of “warm bodies” out there….only problem is that Dana White won’t acknowledge their existence. Here’s a partial list:

That’s just natural middleweights off the top of our head and doesn’t include guys who could go up or come down in weight.

Silva is a badass, no doubt. The assertion that he’s destroyed every top middleweight in the world, however, is either the height of stupidity or Dana White/UFC myopia. Amazing that Dana White can get anything done during the course of the day with so much of the MMA media swinging from his nuts…

Yet another reason that you should get your MMA news from sources like THE SAVAGE SCIENCE and not the mainstream media bandwagon jumpers…
