Vancouver Sun on Kang to UFC
By Jim Murphy November 4th, 2008The Vancouver Sun had an article today about local fighter Denis Kang’s signing with the UFC:
Local MMA fighter Denis Kang has signed a four-fight contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) that could see him on an internationally televised fight card as early as this coming January.
Kang, 31-10-1 in a mixed martial arts career that most recently took him to the MMA hotbed of Asia, is generally regarded as one of the best fighters to come out of B.C. but is looking forward to testing himself against biggest names in the sport.
“The UFC is the biggest stage in the world for MMA,” Kang said in a statement. “I have been a fan of the UFC since its inception and I am very happy to now be part of it.”
Kang registered on the UFC’s radar after a first-round knockout of former UFC fighter Marvin (The Beastman) Eastman and plans to make a name for himself in the UFCs stacked 185-pound division.
“I will fight whoever they put in front of me,” said the North Vancouver-based fighter. “If I do my job and put on exciting fights, the rest will fall into place.”
