DREAM reportedly has inside track to sign Ishii
By Hoyt November 28th, 2008This isn’t a huge surprise, but the Japanese media is reporting that FEG (parent company of DREAM and K-1) has met with judo gold medalist Satoshi Ishii and appears to have the inside track for signing him to a MMA contract. Ishii’s decision to leave judo for MMA has been arguably the biggest sports story of the year in Japan. He’ll be box office gold for whichever promotion signs him, much as Hidehiko Yoshida was (and to some extent still is) for the companies that he’s worked for.
Ishii made an appearance at the Inoki Genome Federation card on 11/24. His brief in-ring appearance largely outshined the event itself which featured Josh Barnett and a long awaited matchup between Tatsumi Fujinami and the original Tiger Mask, Satoru Sayama.
