ROH announcing change for HD Net program

By Hoyt February 15th, 2009

PWMania is reporting an announcing switch for ROH’s HD Net program:

Ring of Honor commentator Lenny Leonard will be replaced for the company’s debut on HDNet by ACC Football and Basketball announcer Mike Hogewood. Hogewood has no background in professional wrestling.

Leonard is not being completely shunned from HDNet as he will make his debut on the network as the ring announcer for XFC (an MMA promotion based out of Tennessee) in April.

Ring of Honor will tape their first two HDNet shows on February 28th and March 1st in Philadelphia.

We’ve never been sold on ‘outsiders’ becoming pro wrestling commentators. Then again, Gordon Solie who is considered by many to be the best wrestling announcer in history entered the business with a background in ‘legit’ sports, primarily auto racing.
