No southpaw fighters in UFC video game?

Via UrDirt:

The forthcoming UFC videogame entitled UFC 2009: Undisputed has received a generally positive buzz, but here’s something odd if its true–there’s no southpaw fighters in the game. More specifically, everybody fights from an orthodox stance:

Here is a really weird little thing missing from UFC 2009 Undisputed; no left handed fighters. According to several fans on message boards who have got their hands on the game early left handed fighters stand in an orthodox position.

While this may not seem like a big deal to most of you this is an issue that is not resolved it may ruin the game for left handed people like myself. But, also remember this can also be easily fixed with a patch from THQ. I saw a post on the UnderGround forums from a fan who said the detail was a big missing piece of the game overall. I also looked further and found that fans on Sherdog’s message boards had come to the same conclusion as well.

I will be honest I have played the demo and I did not seem to have a problem playing as Chuck Liddell or Mauricio “Shogun” Rua who both stand orthodox. The timing is not hard to master and the flow of the striking is one of the bright spots when playing the game.

But, hardcore gamers and MMA fans seem to have a big problem with the fact that fighters like Kenny Florian, Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida do not switch into the South Paw stance. Most fans want as much realism as possible, this would be a big detail to miss.

When the game is released in 4 days we will find out how much this effects the game overall. I will look into this a bit more and see what I uncover when looking at the old gameplay trailers.
