Cro Cop arrives at the Zagreb Airport

By Jim Murphy June 16th, 2009

Here’s a video from Croatian TV of Mirko Cro Cop arriving at the Zagreb airport following his UFC 99 victory over Mostapha Al-Turk. A translation of his comments follows:

Mirko Filipovic arrived in Zagreb, and journalists were greeted with a dance. A happy but tried Cro Cop did not have enough time to sleep. As for the fight, well, he was pleased with his performance.

‘I tried to protect my knee,’ said Cro Cop, referring to the knock-out after only three minutes of fighting. His knee was never an issue for the fight. However he was unhappy that his opponent tried to target it, it was unsportsmanlike he thought.

As for the continuation of his career, and recent stories about his departure from the UFC and the Japanese Dream, Cro Cop had no comment. He could stay with the UFC, or switch to a Japanese Dream, and other associations are not impossible. However, Filipovic had no intention to talk with reporters until they are finalized.

‘This is a business secret, I do not want to talk about it,’ he explained.

“knock-out after only three minutes of fighting”

It was a ref stoppage due to Cro CopOut poking his opponent in the eye.

Such a proud moment for the sport.

Shut up MrJM you idiot, it was an accident. If Cro Cop did not poke At Turk in the eye it would have only taken about 30 seconds longer for Cro Cop to knock his sorry ass out. Al Turk was telegraphing his every strike and was no match for Cro Cop.

    Get off your high horse….

  4. Jim Says:

The eye poke was accidental…the referee could have given Al Turk 5 minutes to recover and it wouldn’t have changed the outcome since it was only a matter of time before Cro Cop knocked him out.

WOW! That dirty f*****c**t is what crossed my mind after he gauged Al Turks eye hole with a open hand jab. Even if Cro Cop was about to finish of Al Turk, their is always a punchers chance (see Mercer Vs. Silvia) and Al Turk should have been awarded more time. In my opinion Cro Cop is well passed his prime and would get destroyed by the likes of most UFC heavyweight contender/Champions. Hell maybe even a 46 year old Randy Couture. If the rumors on the net are true he has signed in Japan and will have the opportunity to avenge a recent loss oh I mean NO contest with Alistair Overeem. Lost all respect for the man and what an extreme let down!!

Ma please Cro Kurac je gotov, on je samo dobar sad da pusi kurac….

The eye poke makes up for the 3 Kongo groin shots that should have been a point deduction.
