No JZC vs. Eddie Alverez fight forthcoming in DREAM
By Hoyt June 22nd, 2009There have been rumors of a potentially epic matchup between newly crowned Bellator Fighting Championships lightweight champion Eddie Alverez and Gesias ‘JZ Calvan’ Calvancante at DREAM XI. Word on the streets of Tokyo is that its not going to happen. Alverez wants to stay loyal to Bellator and clearly realizes that JZC is a very risky fight. Even in a non title match, it wouldn’t look good for Bellator if their lightweight champion were to lose his first match after winning the belt. In theory, US promotions would do well to form cooperative partnerships with the big Japanese promotions but in this case is hard to argue with the logic behind Alverez’s decision.
