Dana says ‘My Way or the Highway’

By Jim Murphy June 27th, 2009

…and there was much rejoicing.

There will be no Limp Bizkit performance at UFC 100. Via MMA Junkie:

Rap-metal group Limp Bizkit’s previously announced July 10 performance at Mandalay Bay Casino & Resort has been canceled.

Ticketmaster.com was the first to announce the cancellation of the event, which was set to coincide with a weekend of events at the Las Vegas resort centered around the historic UFC 100.

The band has since posted on its official website that it was not at fault for the change in plans, while also promising to perform at another Las Vegas venue, the details of which will be announced shortly.

Limp Bizkit’s statement cited concerns over DVD rights and choice of venue as the main reasons for the cancellation.

And being the bunch of scumbags they are, Limp Bixit is trying to hang Dana and the UFC out to dry:

Facts- Limp Bizkit did NOT, in any way, cancel the UFC100 concert in Las Vegas. Truth is UFC and Interscope records could not come to an agreement on certain DVD rights. With all respect to Mandalay Bay, The UFC were also unhappy with LB’s decision of wanting to switch the performance from the Beach at Mandalay Bay with its inappropriate layout for a heavy rock concert with Limp Bizkit, basically a stage in front of a pool, to a more standard concert venue also located at the mandalay Bay which was the House Of Blues. The UFC expressed they wanted a “party vibe” for this event and would not settle for any venue besides the Beach for this and other reasons. First, LB would like to confirm we are HUGE UFC fans and will always be, but feel it is unfair for UFC to falsely confirm and advertise that Limp Bizkit will be performing to only change their minds after many people have rearranged their lives and bought tickets to be in Vegas for this special concert. On that note we are proud to announce that we will still be performing on the same night out of respect for our fans. The details of when and where will follow shortly after this post. Again, all respect to UFC for inviting us in the first place. We will continue to support the UFC because it is our favorite MMA event. Stay tuned.

Yep…that UFC 100 thing wasn’t selling well at all until they announced the Limp Bixit concert. Then as if by magic there were no further tickets available. The funniest line is that people ‘rearranged their lives’ to catch the Limp Bixit gig. We know a lot of metal people here at SAVSCI, and there are a number that had originally planned to head to Vegas for UFC 100 and **specifically changed their mind** after the Bixit gig was announced.

And the assertion that Limp Bixit was doing the UFC a favor or that they were somehow ‘the show’ is comical. They’re a no longer relavant band that was once trendy among the same knuckledragger set that boos whenever a fight goes to the ground at MMA events. Plus they suck. The potential exposure to the UFC 100 crowd was a gift to these losers, and this is how the negotiations between LB and Dana should have gone.

——
DANA: You will play in front of a (f-bomb) pool. We want a (f-bomb) party vibe.

LB: Yes sir, Mr. White.

DANA: And we get all of the (f-bomb) rights to release your (f-bomb) performance on (f-bomb) DVD.

LB: Yes sir, Mr. White!

DANA: And make sure you play that (f-bomb) ‘Nookie’ song. That’s my (f-bomb) favorite. In fact, play it (f-bomb) twice.

LB: You’re the boss, Mr. White!

DANA: And its a (f-bomb) party–you guys need to wear (f-bomb) Hawaiian shirts. Dress like the (f-bomb) Beach Boys.

LB: Whatever you say, Mr. White!

The UFC could have picked a band at random from the SAVSCI iTunes library and done better than Limp Bixit. They could have picked five names at random out of the Las Vegas phone book, handed them instruments and done better.

And some friendly advice to Chuck Durst and uh….the rest of the band. You *don’t* want to get into a media fight with Dana Freakin’ White. You’d be better off walking up to Fedor Emelianenko, yelling ‘balding Russians suck!’ and slapping him across the face. We don’t always agree with Dana but he is no joke in the media/PR department.

Dana says ‘my way or the (f-bomb) highway’ and sends Limp Bizkit packing @ MMA Junkie

Moral of the story–if you’re going to bring a band to a MMA event you gotta do it right. Like this:
