New WEC 43 venue announced

By Jim Murphy August 28th, 2009

WEC 43, originally scheduled for Youngstown, Ohio, has been rescheduled for October 10th and will now take place in San Antonio, Texas. The rescheduled date was due to a minor injury to headliner Ben Henderson and the venue change was allegedly due to a conflict at the Youngstown venue with motorcycle ice racing. We wrote all about that cock and bull story here:

Motorcycle ice racing forces WEC 43 venue switch

Despite the WEC’s insistence of a scheduling conflict, its still listed as free on the Youngstown arena schedule and none of the various motorcycle ice racing sanctioning bodies have an event scheduled for Youngstown on that date. Zuffa insists that tickets were flying out of the box office, but they simply don’t have the legal manpower to contend with the powerful motorcycle ice racing lobby.
