Urijah Faber signs new deal with WEC
By Jim Murphy October 5th, 2009Urijah Faber has signed a new deal with the WEC, and expects to be back in action early next year. The good news is that his mangled hand, broken in his epic second battle against Mike Brown, is healing very well. Probably a best case scenario all around–Faber is the ‘marquee name’ for Zuffa’s promotion dedicated to the lighter weight classes and outside of Japan its where Faber will find the best competition. There are a ton of great potential fights for ‘The California Kid’ in Japan, of course, but unless Zuffa all of a sudden figures out how to do business with foreign promoters they’ll have to wait. In any case, Faber is on a short list of the most entertaining fighters in the sport and we’re glad he’ll be back in action sooner rather than later.
