Junie Browning OD’s, roughs up nurses, gets cut by UFC
By Jim Murphy October 7th, 2009Anytime the local fishwrap mentions your name in conjunction with an overdose and ‘hospital assault’, its obvious that things aren’t going to end well for you. That is the case with last year’s UFC ‘Ultimate Fighter’ comedic foil Junie Browning. Like most intelligent people, I doubt that Dana White actually reads newspapers anymore but if he did he would have sauntered out to the curb Tony Soprano style, picked up this morning’s Las Vegas Review Journal to read:
UFC fighter arrested in Henderson hospital assault
Here’s the story–Junie apparently loaded up on 16 pills of an anti-anxiety drug called Klonopin. The paper stopped short of calling it a suicide attempt but did suggest that he ‘intended to harm himself’. A couple of friends took him to St. Rose Dominican Hospital in Henderson, and got him checked into a room. Things got worse for Junie when he decided that he wanted to leave, and figured he’d fight his way out. He punched one male nurse, roughed up another male nurse and pushed a female nurse. In the midst of the fracas, he had the presence of mind to play the ‘do you know who I am’ card with a twist that sounds more like Mike Tyson than a ‘TUF’ washout:
“Do you know who I am? I will kill you and rape your family.”
Uh..no, Junie, they probably don’t watch the Ultimate Fighter or untelevised preliminary matches. They very well might *not* know who you are.
Anyway, Junie was charged with three counts of battery on a health care provider. He was taken to the gray bar motel but as of this afternoon had been released from custody.
He’s also been released from his UFC contract. Dana White decided that Junie had been given enough chances and sent him packing. Junie had temporarily revived his MMA career after becoming one of the most hated ‘TUF’ contestants in history. He’d started training at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas, and the party line was that he’d turned over a new leaf. He won his ‘official’ UFC debut against overmatched David Kaplan by armbar, but got pwned by tough Cole Miller in his next fight, losing via submission to a guillotine choke at 1:58 of the first round.
Our women’s MMA editor Yael Grauer had a run in with Junie not too long ago, where he informed our intrepid reporter that he was spending his time ‘partying and training’. He’s doing at least half of that in this picture:

Anyway, we hope Junie will enjoy life back in the hillbilly country of Kentucky from whence he came…
