Silva out of UFC 109 fight with Belfort
By Jim Murphy November 28th, 2009In some of the least surprising news since Clay Aiken came out of the closet, Anderson Silva is playing the ‘ow, my elbow!’ game again and has pulled out of the UFC 109 fight with Vitor Belfort. There’s some talk that it’ll be rescheduled for April, but we’ll believe it when we see it.

Are you that much a homophobe? Why did you feel the need to DRAG (ahem) Clay Aiken’s name into this filler other than you are desperate for attention and readers? It says so much about you, Mr. Murphy. What are you afraid of in Clay Aiken other than something you are hiding in yourself? Come out. It’s okay. No one will hurt you.

Actually, I’m the least homophobic person on the planet. If I was a homophobe I sure as hell wouldn’t be living in downtown Portland. I just thought it was a funny reference. Basically the first thing that popped into my head. Actually, it was the *2nd* reference that popped into my head, but I was concerned that some of our younger readers might not have known who Rock Hudson was. We don’t have hidden agendas here at SavSci–we have plenty of agendas, but we just don’t hide them.

Glynn, a long, boring night online or something? Wow.
Re: Anderson Silva: I’m all for getting healthy, but how many injuries does he not have time to heal for? I’ve seen him at every gym opening, fight night, semi-training video and social event and that doesn’t define for me “resting”.
I’d hate to see a grand mystique pushed aside by someone that “doesn’t defend his belt because of injuries received in training” like The Punk has recently, but eventually, maybe it’s just time to hang it up? Seriously. Can we say, “in 6 months time, we’d like to see you defend the belt against __________ or please pull a Cung Le and when you’re ready to get back in and kick it (which he no doubt WILL and is able to do) come back?”
Imagine ANOTHER ascension by someone as gargantuan a talent as The Spider? I’d watch and pay each time for the views.

Jim Murphy: If you are the least homophobic person you know, I sure would hate to meet your friends.
Not sure why someone having to identify his sexuality in public (to satisfy an uneducated society and a media that prefers to talk about coming out vs. the former Imbecile-in-Chief George Bush) is a joke. Don’t give up your day job to become a stand-up comic! ;}

You have to have a real good sense of humor to write about MMA
