Time to Bash the TUF 10 Finale

By Jim Murphy December 7th, 2009

One of our favorite MMA sites, Watch Kalib Run, takes their shots at the TUF Finale:

We are 24 hours removed from TUF 10 and WKR has been playing close attention to the reaction from around the MMA blogosphere and the consensus is: The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale sucked.

Secretly the UFC must be counting their blessings that there isn’t a Rottentomatoes for UFC fights or else The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale might be at the level of a Ecks vs. Sever. Okay, maybe not that bad but still, the Finale was far from a solid product.

Full thing here and there’s not much on their rundown that we don’t agree with 100%:

    Why did you pull this story?

    Did someone pressure you to remove it? The UFC or HR?

    I decided to roll the info from the blog into a larger story dealing with the potential implications on the sport. The UFC hasn’t contacted us and to the best of my knowledge hasn’t said anything to anyone regarding this situation. HR contacted us with some concerns but in no way pressured us. In fact, I included their email in the story.

    Upon reflection, I did have some misgivings on the original blog post about rushing to judgement on an emotional level and not addressing the facts. Furthermore, I wanted to get away from a back and forth about what is and isn’t offensive, what isn’t and isn’t Nazi imagery and so forth. We’ve linked to several stories on other sites that are doing an excellent job with that. We were never pressured by anyone to take it down, but I did feel it dealt with a serious issue in a somewhat shoddy manner.

    Our primary concern is the risk of this crossing over to the mainstream media and becoming a full blown PR crisis for the sport. Obviously, this could have serious repercussions on not only the UFC but the entire sport of MMA. The follow up article I’ve written more accurately reflects this and puts it into context both historical and current;
