The UFC has cut loose a couple of their divas octagon girls. MMA Madness gives us the story:

MMAMADNESS.com has learned that both Natasha Wicks and Logan Stanton have been cut from the UFC as ring girls. Stanton’s contract expired after UFC 107 and the UFC chose not to renew it. Wicks was cut before the expiration of her contract. Ring girl Arianny Celeste will remain on with the organization; as her contract has been recently renegotiated- explaining her absense from UFC 107.

A lot of Zuffa fanboys are reacting to the news as if their grandma had been hit by a truck, but obviously these females are expendable. The UFC is bringing in a new octagon girl who laid down for Playboy or some other skin mag. Really, the entire idea of having ring card girls ‘under contract’ is stupid and reeks of WWE ‘divas’. The way to get ‘octagon girls’ is to send Chuck Liddell into a strip club the night before each event with a wad of bills and he’ll no doubt find suitable ‘talent’ to fill the gig.

I’m all for hot chicks at UFC events, and ring card girls are a time honored tradition. Ultimately, however, they don’t sell PPVs or tickets. I’d be interested to know how many fighters pull down less money than the ‘octagon girls’ still under contract.
