Floyd Mayweather, Jr vs. Diego Corrales ring entrances
By Jim Murphy March 15th, 2010One of my favorite ring entrances ever by Floyd Mayweather, Jr. This fight is probably what convinced me that Mayweather was the real deal–many people (myself included) thought that the late, great Diego Corrales–then undefeated–would catch Floyd and use his power to pummel him. Didn’t quite work out that way as Mayweather put on a clinic against one of the toughest SOB’s of the past decade. Corrales set a Compubox record for futility as Mayweather limited him to single digit connects in every round–Diego was only able to land an average of six punches per round. He might as well have been fighting a ghost. Mayweather, meanwhile, knocked Corrales down five times before Diego’s corner stopped the fight.
Mayweather brings his own MC’s and then enters the ring to Stevie Wonder singing “Overjoyed”. You’re a bad man if you can use that as your ring entrance music. Check out the ‘heel reaction’ that Mayweather gets from the live crowd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena:
